The business has moved beyond simply proving its technology. It has secured significant external investment, won meaningful commercial contracts and has a strong pipeline of further opportunities that could materially change the scale of the organisation.

The next challenge is delivering that growth.

They're now looking for a Finance Manager to join the business and help build the financial infrastructure behind it.

This could be an excellent first move for a newly qualified accountant coming from Audit who wants far more than a conventional reporting role.

You'll work directly with the CFO and alongside a highly technical team, getting exposure to the commercial and operational realities of scaling an early-stage business.

You'll start close to the numbers. The opportunity is to grow well beyond them.

The Opportunity

The finance function is deliberately at an early stage.

Initially, you'll take ownership of the fundamentals. Reconciliations, payments, month-end, financial control, procurement and reporting all need someone who cares about getting the detail right.

But they aren't hiring someone to spend the next 3 years doing bookkeeping.

As the business scales, you'll help automate transactional finance, introduce better processes and controls, improve reporting and build the infrastructure needed to support a considerably larger organisation.

You'll also have the opportunity to explore how AI and automation can improve areas including finance, procurement, manufacturing, supply chain, reporting and risk.

Few roles at this level give you that breadth.

What you'll be doing

Financial Control & Operations

• Own reconciliations, payments and core financial control.
• Support month-end close, management accounts and financial reporting.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and a reliable general ledger.
• Manage accounts payable, receivable and payment processes.
• Strengthen financial controls as the business grows.

Building the Finance Function

• Automate manual and transactional finance processes.
• Improve systems rather than simply inherit them.
• Build better management information and reporting.
• Support audit, tax and financial compliance.
• Partner with the CFO on the finance infrastructure needed for scale.

Commercial & Operational Finance

• Partner with technical and operational teams on budgeting and forecasting.
• Support procurement and supplier processes.
• Track project, development and manufacturing costs.
• Monitor spend against budget.
• Provide financial insight as new contracts and projects develop.

What we’re looking for

The ideal profile is a newly qualified ACA/ACCA accountant straight from practice, particularly Audit
, who wants to make the move into industry and learn how a technology business is built from the inside.

You'll be proactive, technically capable and happy working in the detail. You'll also be curious enough to question how things are done and confident enough to find answers when everything isn't already mapped out.

We’d also consider someone who is qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA with industry experience, particularly from a start-up, scale-up, SME, manufacturing or hardware environment.
