Job OverviewThis static post provides an exciting opportunity to join a forward‑thinking and highly valued therapy team within Elderly Care. The role involves providing specialist therapy for older people and involvement in service development projects to provide continuous improvement within the area. The post will be operating across the six inpatient elderly care wards including the Hip Fracture Unit; working with individuals with a variety of complex needs.
Additionally, there are clinical responsibilities for the weekly Movement Disorders and Falls MDT Clinics.
The role also requires a willingness to develop leadership skills, an excellent opportunity for a Band 5 or 6 looking to further their career.

MainDuties
- Be an occupational therapist specialist working for Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust Hospital (RBFT).
- Participate in the operational management and clinical leadership of occupational therapy in conjunction with the Band 7 Advanced specialist.
- Use specialist occupational therapy knowledge and clinical reasoning skills to provide specialist support and advice to the occupational therapy team and manage own caseload of patients with complex conditions as an autonomous practitioner.
- Ensure a high quality, effective and efficient occupational therapy service in designated area.
- Be a member of the Therapy Department contributing to planning and policy development in these departments.
- Deputise for the Band 7 Advanced specialist as required.
Essential Criteria
- Have a degree or other recognised qualification in occupational therapy.
- Postgraduate specialist experience as demonstrated by ongoing CPD, evidence-based project work, postgraduate teaching.
- HCPC Registered.
- Specialist postgraduate experience.
- Understanding of a broad range of Elderly Care conditions.
- Post‑graduate training in the management of conditions.
- Experience of teaching and presenting to other staff.
- Experience of supervising and developing other staff and students.
Desirable Criteria
- BSc OT.
- Specialist knowledge in related area.
- Research or audit experience.
- Training and Presentation skills.

- Car driver with UK driving licence, able to drive pool car for access visits.
