Job Title
Sonographer with Preceptorship B7 to 8A – Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust
Job SummaryAre you a professional sonographer committed to first‑class patient care and driven to work within a high‑performing team? The Ultrasound Service is sonographer‑led, receiving referrals from GP, outpatients, wards and the Emergency Department. It also provides a lithotripsy service, for which full training is provided. This opportunity invites those wishing to develop general ultrasound skills and gain experience across a range of complex cases, including MSK.
Responsibilities- Independently undertake general ultrasound sessions and provide comprehensive, accurate computerised reports.
- Conduct a wide variety of diagnostic ultrasound examinations, maintaining high professional standards of technical competence.
- Deliver a high‑quality, patient‑focused professional service at all times.
- Adapt techniques for each examination to meet the individual needs of the patient.
- Analyse clinical information and determine the most appropriate scanning method and technique.
- Supervise and mentor junior staff (as appropriate for grade).
- Provide timely issue of diagnostic reports based on ultrasound findings.
- HCPC registered
- DCR or degree in Radiography
- DMU or Post Graduate Diploma in Ultrasound
- MSc in Ultrasound
- Evidence of involvement in audit, PGcert or equivalent in appropriate reporting modality
- Experience across a wide range of ultrasound examinations.
- NHS experience.
- Minimum 1 year post‑Ultrasound Diploma experience.
- 1+ year post‑Ultrasound Diploma experience.
- Sound knowledge of cross‑sectional anatomy and understanding of complex pathologies.
- Strong imaging and reporting skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and in a team under pressure.

- Salary: £47,810 to £62,682 per year (pro‑rata for part‑time)
