An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Healthcare Associate to join our dynamic and forward‑thinking team at Brookside Group Practice at 16-20 hours per week.

Previous experience of nursing or working as a Health Care Associate / Assistant in General Practice preferred

Main duties of the job

Job Summary:

  • to work as a member of the General Practice Team
  • to perform the following tasks safely &efficiently working within agreed protocols.

The successful candidate will have previous practical experience of Venepuncture and Blood pressure checks.

They will work as part of a team supporting clinicians and patients by carrying out clinical support, infection control, restocking and stock rotation tasks.

Other tasks could include but not limited to:

  • ECGs
  • Dressings

The Practice serves approximately 31,000 patients from our 4 surgeries in Earley, Lower Earley, Winnersh and Wilderness Road.

Job responsibilities

The HCA has responsibilities to

  • Liaise with other members of the healthcare team as appropriate particularly regarding any concerns regarding patient care.
  • Maintain good standards of practice in all areas of work.
  • Maintain accurate, contemporaneous & adequate medical records.
  • Maintain standards of infection control as per practice policy/guidelines.
  • Acknowledge & keep within limitations of HCA role.
  • Restock & tidy room at the end of each clinic.

Person Specification Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years experience of working with healthcare professionals and or previous experience in the NHS
  • Previously worked in a GP surgery

  • Good standard of education with excellent literacy and numeracy skills
