The Berkshire Cancer Centre is seeking an enthusiastic and flexible Junior Therapeutic Radiographer (Band 5) to join our team. We provide state‑of‑the‑art radiotherapy and oncology services to a population of 0.8 million, supported by two GE CT scanners, four Elekta Linear Accelerators, a high‑dose Brachytherapy unit, and a planned superficial X‑ray unit. Advanced treatments such as SA , DIBH, VMAT and adaptive radiotherapy underpin our care.
The department offers career progression to enhanced, advanced and consultant practitioner roles, and supports students and apprentices.
- Deliver high‑quality patient care, radiotherapy planning and treatment services to cancer patients within the Berkshire Cancer Centre.
- Work as a member of the radiotherapy team to develop departmental procedures and participate in research.
- Participate in the departmental on‑call system under supervision of a senior staff member.
- Work core hours of 8:30 am to 5 pm, with flexibility between 7 am and 9 pm, including occasional Saturday work to meet department needs.
- Supervise and mentor pre‑registration learners, junior staff, and radiotherapy assistants.
- Be qualified to practice as an Operator within Radiotherapy as defined by IR (ME) R.
- Maintain competency in all required areas, including treatment floor, prep room, SGRT and IGRT training.
- Provide advice on managing radiotherapy‑related situations.
- Assist in shift planning, patient appointment allocation and preparation.
- Liaise effectively with the multidisciplinary team and wider Trust.
- Ensure highest professional and technical standards, including QA protocols and documented procedures.
- Input patient details into the Radiotherapy Electronic Patient Management System.
- Participate in audit processes within the BCC Quality System.
- Act on behalf of a Senior radiographer when required.
- Work flexibly, typically between 7 am and 9 pm, and participate in the on‑call rota and bank‑holiday duties.

- Degree or equivalent in therapeutic radiography.
- State registered with HCPC.
- Recent experience in a specialty or clinical placement while studying.
