Occupational Therapist; Rotational

Job summary

Band 5 Occupational Therapist (Rotational). This is a fixed‑term post for 12 months up to August 2027. We are looking for motivated and passionate Occupational Therapists to join the rotations at the Royal Berkshire Hospital.

The rotational post is suitable for new graduates (those who are due to become HCPC registered soon) as well as more experienced band 5s.

Specialties in the rotation include:

• Stroke
• Medicine
• Elderly Care
• Surgery & Orthopaedics
• Neuro rehabilitation
• Acute Medical Unit (front door services)

We offer a comprehensive support package for band 5s to develop their skills; including the use of a band 5 passport covering key skills and learning opportunities, workshops and training sessions, and an OT specific practice educator on site.

We also have a strong band 5 support group, a buddy system and regular in‑service sessions.

• To be an occupational therapist delivering patient‑centred, caring therapy for Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust Hospital (RBFT).
• To be professionally responsible for all aspects of your own work including the therapeutic management of patients in your care, in conjunction with your supervisor.
• To use your occupational therapy knowledge and skills to provide support and advice to the multidisciplinary team and to manage your own caseload of patients as an autonomous practitioner.
• To deliver a high quality, effective and efficient occupational therapy service in the Therapy team.
• To be a member of the Therapy Department team, contributing to service development in Therapies and the Trust.
• To deputise for the Band 6 Specialist Occupational Therapist as required.

Essential

• Degree or other recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy
• HCPC registered
• IT skills, including email

Desirable

• BSc OT
• Member of BAOT
• Training & presentation skills

Essential

• Experience working in an NHS healthcare setting
• Experience of three or more different areas of Occupational Therapy practice (including practice placements)

Desirable

• Experience working in an acute general hospital
• Experience working in a healthcare setting
