We are seeking a professional, organised, and proactive HR Officer to join a busy school in Reading, starting ASAP. This is a key role supporting the leadership team with all HR and staffing matters, ensuring smooth operations and compliance with employment legislation.

The school has a strong inclusive ethos and values its staff. The HR Officer will manage HR processes, support recruitment, maintain employee records, and provide guidance on HR policies, playing a vital role in the school’s operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage recruitment processes including advertising, shortlisting, and arranging interviews

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date staff records

  • Provide support and advice to staff and leadership on HR policies and procedures

  • Assist with staff induction, contracts, and payroll processes

  • Support performance management processes and staff development tracking

  • Maintain HR databases and filing systems

  • Ensure compliance with employment law, safeguarding, and GDPR policies

  • Assist with staff absence management and record-keeping

  • Coordinate HR communications between staff, leadership, and external agencies

  • Support the overall smooth operation of the school office and administrative systems

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will:

  • Have previous HR experience, preferably in education or a school setting

  • Be organised, professional, and detail-oriented

  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Be confident using HR and school management systems

  • Be proactive, reliable, and adaptable

  • Be knowledgeable about employment law and HR best practices

  • Be committed to safeguarding and promoting staff and pupil wellbeing
