Position: DevOps Engineer- Permanent Multiplayer Wizards · Code Wizards HQ Code Wizards North [...]

Code Wizards are one of the world's leaders in Game and Esports Tech. We're in a period of growth and looking to bolster our Dev Ops capabilities by adding more engineers to our team.

Within the Group lie Multiplayer Wizards, whose responsibility is to help game studios launch and run their games seamlessly.

Multiplayer Wizards are in search of a Senior Dev Ops Engineer to join the team permanently, working on some specific game migration work.

Are you a highly productive Senior Dev Ops Engineer, looking to use your wealth of games industry knowledge and your technical Dev Ops skills to help keep games online and running, whatever challenges are thrown at you?

In this role, you will use your skills to help educate others in the team and act as an escalation point for head-scratching problems. Incidents are no problem, and you are happy to pick up and run with an outage, working with internal teams and the customer to keep the game infrastructure online.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Diagnosing and performing root cause analysis on customer infrastructure, including in incident scenarios
  • Proactively identify and raise methods of improving team efficiency and procedures to improve the support to the customer
  • Assisting with escalated issues and navigating scenarios across multiple teams
  • Writing clean, scalable, and performant scripts & code
  • Forming part of a regular on-call rotation supporting our customers and internal teams
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Experience working in the gaming industry having worked on a live service game in production.
  • Knowledge of backend systems for online games and ideally exposure to game engines, Unity, Unreal etc.
  • An excitement to expand your knowledge on unfamiliar infrastructure and tools
  • Automation knowledge on a wide variety of tools – Ansible, Terraform, Grafana, and Kubernetes, etc.
  • Prior experience migrating a live game from one Cloud provider onto AWS
  • Excellent knowledge of containers, virtual machines and Linux server administration
  • Demonstrable experience in programming or personal code-based projects.

The position offers flexible working hours, with a schedule from Monday to Friday that also includes participation in an on-call rota. It follows a hybrid working model, requiring three days per week onsite at the Elgin studio and two days working remotely.

Initially, we will be looking at people with previous experience within the Video Games Industry.
