Principal Child Care Solicitor

Service Care Solutions is working alongside a growing local authority, based in Reading, which is looking to appoint an experienced Principal Child Care Solicitor to support the Strategic Lead for Children’s Law and manage a Child Care Court Team within the Joint Legal Team.

Principal Child Care Solicitor

Location:

Reading - hybrid
Umbrella Rate: £55- £60ph
PAYE Inc. Rate: £48.44 - £52.79ph
Contract Length: 3 months ongoing

Key Responsibilities

Provide senior technical support to the Interim Strategic Lead and contribute to service-wide strategic improvements.
Mentor junior solicitors and deliver training on childcare law, PLO, and court practice.
Engage effectively with social care teams, judiciary, and external counsel.
Provide strategic advice on complex and high-risk cases.

Key Requirements:

5+ years of PQE in Childcare law as a Solicitor in England and Wales (with a current Practicing Certificate).
Significant experience in public law children’s proceedings.
Ideally experience as a senior solicitor with managerial responsibilities.
The ability to travel to Reading when required.
