Caretaker / Estates Labourer About the Role

We are looking for a practical, hands‑on Caretaker / Estates Labourer to keep an FE college safe, functional, and looking its best. This is a varied role for someone who enjoys fixing, maintaining, and improving buildings and grounds.

• General maintenance and repairs including fixtures, fittings, furniture, doors, and windows
• Minor plumbing tasks such as fixing leaks, unblocking drains, and repairing toilet cisterns
• Basic electrical duties including changing light bulbs and fuses, following safety procedures
• Minor carpentry and joinery work
• Painting and decorating, including preparation and touch‑ups
• Grounds maintenance including litter picking, clearing drains and gutters, mowing, and hedge trimming
• Safe and effective use of a wide range of hand and power tools

• Strong DIY skills and a proactive, can‑do attitude
• Practical experience across maintenance, repairs, and grounds work
• Awareness of health and safety best practice
• Previous experience in an education setting is desirable
• An enhanced DBS certificate or willingness to apply for one
