We are looking for an Engineering Supervisor to manage the day‑to‑day hard services operations at our Reading site.
Responsibilities- Provide leadership and manage the hard services operations, ensuring the highest standards of customer service and operational performance.
- Respond positively to internal and external customers through effective communication and personal accessibility.
- Understand and deliver customer needs while building effective relationships.
- Act as an ambassador of CBRE values and behaviours, presenting a professional image to clients and visitors.
- Ensure compliance with all company, client site policies and procedures.
- Manage client expectations and ensure information is communicated between the team and customers.
- Provide leadership to ensure contractual and statutory activities are carried out in line with requirements.
- Manage M&E and fabric supply chain, ensuring compliance with contractual commitments, QHSE processes and site operating procedures.
- Obtain supplier quotations, gain client approval and instruct suppliers to commence works, following approved supplier procedures.
- Maintain the onsite subcontractor tracker, booking Planned Maintenance visits and ensuring completion by due date.
- Maintain the onsite risk register, highlighting risks to the building and plant and the required mitigation actions.
- Participate in the provision of a safe & healthy working environment, ensuring compliance with CBRE and client policies.
- Share best practice with the on‑site team via Toolbox Talks and Team Meetings.
- Complete and record safety checks on the team and sub‑contractors.
- Maintain onsite log books, statutory documentation and ensure they are up to date with Statutory Regulations and CBRE procedures.
- Participate in QHSE audits and keep the QHSE site induction pack up to date.
- Maintain the statutory compliance register and ensure all statutory compliance is documented appropriately.
- Ensure site‑specific risk assessments are completed, signed and understood by the on‑site team.
- Keep the COSHH inventory up to date and maintain current copies of all risk assessments and MSDS on site.
- Ensure the on‑site team and specialist sub‑contractors have the appropriate training and competencies required for their duties and book training in a timely manner.
- Submit change requests using the change management system for required maintenance, extra works or project activity following agreed processes.
- Act as the primary operational point of contact for the Project team from pre‑start works to snagging and handover.
- Engage with the Project Team, coordinate cross‑departmental objectives and provide technical and operational advice.
- Support the Project Team with access and change control administration, following agreed processes.
- Provide leadership, guidance, advice and coaching where required.
- Manage the team’s holiday, sickness and overtime to ensure sufficient site coverage at all times.
- Take the lead on recruitment for any vacancies within the team and conduct performance reviews.
- Learn and understand contract and specific requirements such as visitor booking, change requests for IT‑controlled areas, contractor parking and more.
- Perform with an understanding of business requirements and changes, ensuring continuous improvement.
- Drive innovation and best practice with the team.
- Ensure professional and technical skills are maintained through a commitment to personal development and lifelong learning.
- Be available to work outside core hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.
- Participate in the rotating emergency engineer on‑call rota, responding to all emergency calls in line with site call‑out procedures.
- Carry out any reasonable request from management.
- Excellent PC‑based skills with experience in Word, Excel and Outlook.
- HVAC systems maintenance experience.
- Comprehensive M&E engineering experience, undertaking reactive and planned maintenance.
- Comprehensive understanding of H&S obligations in a building services environment.
- Previous supervisory experience in a building services environment.
- Experience with CAFM systems.
- Experience working in a critical environment such as Data Centre or Hospital.
- Experience operating and certified for maintenance and operation of HV and LV electrical switch gear and distribution systems.
- Experience working alongside fit‑out Project Teams.
