Our client is recruiting for an  Maintenance Operative  to join a well-established and highly regarded independent school. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a friendly and supportive Estates team, helping to maintain an outstanding learning environment for pupils, staff and visitors.
The Maintenance Operative will be responsible for:
Carrying out general repairs and maintenance across the school site
Maintaining fixtures, fittings, lighting and external areas
Ensuring the school remains safe, secure, clean and well presented
Opening and locking the school buildings as required
Setting up classrooms, halls and facilities for school events and activities
Supporting with swimming pool water testing and monitoring (training provided where required)
Completing general porterage duties, including moving furniture and equipment
Assisting with grounds maintenance, including leaf clearance, play area upkeep and external cleaning
Driving the school's minibuses and other estates vehicles when required
Carrying out Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) following online training
Supporting the wider Estates team with additional maintenance tasks across the school campus
Shift Pattern
The role operates on a three-week rotating shift pattern:
Early:  Monday-Friday, 6:30am-3:00pm
Day:  Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm
Late:  Monday-Friday, 10:30am-7:00pm
Occasional evening and weekend work will be required to support school events such as Open Days and other key activities.
The successful Maintenance Operative will have the following related skills experience:
Previous maintenance, caretaking, facilities or estates experience (school experience is advantageous but not essential)
Good DIY and practical maintenance skills
Good communication skills and a customer-focused attitude
The ability to carry out manual work, including lifting and working at height where appropriate
Confidence working both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
A full, clean UK driving licence (essential)
