Cnc Setter; Night Shift
Overview
We are looking for an experienced CNC Setter/Operator to join our client’s manufacturing team in Reading. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established business producing high-quality perforated metal and plastic components. Working on a permanent night shift, you will play a key role in achieving production targets, maintaining quality standards, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the manufacturing operation.
Please note: Successful candidates will complete a 2–4 week training period on either the 6:00am–2:00pm or 2:00pm–10:00pm shift, Monday to Friday, before moving onto the permanent night shift of Sunday to Thursday, 10:00pm–6:00am.

- Setting and operating CNC perforating and punch presses to achieve production targets
- Producing high-quality components in line with customer and company standards
- Carrying out quality inspections in accordance with ISO procedures
- Supporting the Night Shift Team Leader and deputising when required
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives across the production team
- Maintaining high standards of housekeeping and workplace organisation
- Ensuring all work is completed safely and in line with Health & Safety procedures
- Assisting with training and developing team members
- Participating in team meetings and contributing ideas to improve efficiency, quality and performance
- Supporting environmental objectives in line with ISO 14001 requirements
- Working towards targets relating to running efficiency, scrap reduction and setup performance
- Previous manufacturing experience with a strong mechanical background
- Experience setting CNC punch and/or perforating presses
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Experience using precision measuring equipment including micrometres and verniers
- Good numeracy and literacy skills
- Comfortable using PCs and production systems
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Flexible approach to training shifts and additional hours when required
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques including SMED and 5S
- Counterbalance Forklift Licence
- Power Press Regulations Certificate
