Why we want you

One of the Charity aims is to educate people on how to carry out effective CPR and the use of Public Access Defibrillators. No prior teaching experience needed—just a passion for helping others learn this essential skill and help your communities become safer.

You will have an opportunity to attend local community groups, schools and be an important part of Restart a Heart Day. During the talk you will be provided with a PowerPoint presentation which will also highlight the work of South Central Ambulance Charity, the work we do and what their donations will mean.

We will give you annual training to ensure that your teaching and CPR skills meet our standards and you will be supported by other local volunteers including volunteer responders and staff.

Please note that we will be running training from September for this role so there will be a short delay before you can start to support us

What you will be doing
  • Discussing with groups of people how to recognise and react to a Cardiac Arrest.
  • Demonstrating how to perform effective CPR.
  • Showing people how to use and access public defibrillators.
  • Representing SCAS and the Charity in the local community.
  • Using a supplied PowerPoint presentation.
The skills you need
  • Good verbal communication skills.
  • Happy and confident (after training) in delivering teaching sessions to large groups of people.
  • Confident to work independently or within a small team.
  • Physically fit to carry out CPR on a manikin on the floor.
  • Confident with IT and Microsoft Office programmes.
What's in it for you
  • Helping to provide people with essential life skills.
  • Support your local community in essential education.
  • High quality training.
  • A charity branded t-shirt.
  • Out of pocket expenses in line with our policy.
Disclaimer

We will ask you to attend a CPR and Defib awareness refresher annually. We are looking for volunteers who are able to support us regularly throughout the year attending a range of community based CPR awareness sessions. Please note this is not a first aid qualification.
