Job Overview

At CVS, caring is what we do. As a Veterinary Nurse, you'll be at the heart of promoting pet wellness—monitoring patients' health, supporting their recovery, and offering reassurance to the people who love them.

About the Practice

Active Vet Care Tilehurst is a small animal practice with a passionate and experienced team of vets, nurses, PCAs, and receptionists. Facilities include digital x‑ray, dental x‑ray, ultrasound, endoscopes, in‑house labs, advanced anaesthetic equipment, and ASCNs/visiting orthopaedic surgeons.

We place a strong emphasis on fully utilising our nursing team, empowering nurses to take an active role in surgical nursing and Schedule 3 procedures with the support of the entire team. There is also the opportunity for nurses to take part in district nursing and run consulting clinics independently.

Candidate Profile

Our ideal candidate will be a qualified veterinary nurse who is confident in all aspects of clinical work, including anaesthesia, medical nursing, nurse clinics, x‑ray, IV placement, bloods and sample collection, and completing the necessary administration.

Responsibilities
  • Be passionate about delivering exceptional care to both patients and their owners every day.
  • Support the outcome of patient care in all aspects of clinical work as part of the team.
  • Ensure quality is maintained by keeping the practice in excellent condition.
  • Learn, develop and grow with us, taking advantage of ongoing training and development opportunities.
  • Contribute to creating a positive environment, fostering a friendly, welcoming and supportive team culture.
  • Communicate with confidence, using exceptional written and verbal communication skills to build strong, lasting relationships.
Benefits
  • RCVS fees paid in full.
  • Generous CPD allowance, Knowledge Hub access, BSAVA library, and funded advanced training opportunities.
  • Excellent nursing career pathway.
  • Up to 33 days holiday (with the option to buy/sell).
  • Health cash plan, employee assistance programme, wellbeing champions, and enhanced family leave policies.
  • Staff pet care discounts – 50% off services, MiPet food, and medications.
