CMM Programmer / Inspection Engineer - Reading, UK (on site)
Contract Length: 6 months
We are hiring for a CMM Programmer / Dimensional Inspector role supporting our client within a high-precision engineering environment. Based in the UK, this opportunity will see you working on dimensional inspection activities and CMM programming, playing a key role in ensuring product quality and compliance across complex engineering projects.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs a CMM Programmer / Inspection Engineer, you will be responsible for completing defined tasks from the order book, with a primary focus on Quindos programming for shell components using dimensional inspection on Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs). You will work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams, carrying out inspection activities, setting up components and assemblies, interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications, and reporting product status including non-conformance management.
The role also involves applying inspection quality tools and techniques, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring inspection processes meet required standards.
- Recognised Engineering Apprenticeship.
- HNC qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or equivalent experience.
- Previous experience with CMM programming and associated software.
- Strong workshop experience using inspection quality tools and techniques.
- Experience of inspection practices and inspection equipment.
- Ability to set up and inspect components and assemblies.
- Experience interpreting engineering drawings, including GD&T.
- Knowledge of inspection quality processes, practices and systems.
- Basic understanding of measurement uncertainty analysis.
- Understanding of CAD and model-based inspection methods.
- Experience reporting product status and managing non-conformances.
- Experience with Quindos programming software.
- Experience with PC-DMIS programming software.
- Knowledge of Six Sigma methodologies.
- Understanding of continuous improvement tools and techniques, including Yellow Belt or Green Belt accreditation.
- Experience with problem-solving methodologies within manufacturing environments.
