Technician ( Flex Pool; FTC

Job Description

Reading Scientific Services Ltd (RSSL) leads the way in scientific analysis, research, consultancy, and training. We serve the food, pharmaceutical, and consumer goods industries, and work closely with our parent company, Mondelez International.

The Flex Technician supports project completion across multiple laboratories, performing routine laboratory tasks, basic analysis, food production, and food product development while adhering to food safety and pharmaceutical GMP standards. Flexibility across the Reading and Wokingham sites is required.

• Technical
  • Operate in laboratories as demand requires, ensuring high quality customer service and accurate, timely results.
  • Perform basic routine analysis, product manufacturing, and sample preparation under supervision.
  • Follow standard operating procedures and methodologies, including calibration of instrumentation.
  • Use laboratory LIMS, Q‑Pulse, and other software packages.
  • Execute laboratory and manufacturing equipment tasks.
  • Manage admin and housekeeping duties.
• Communication & Influence
  • Collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams across laboratories.
• QEHS
  • Maintain high safety and quality standards, following COSHH, risk assessments, and SOPs.
  • Complete quality actions in a timely manner.
  • Keep the workspace clean, tidy, and safe.
  • Ensure training records remain up to date.

• Educated to A/HNC level in a relevant scientific discipline.
• Accountable, honest, hardworking, and a capable team player.
• Flexible and adaptable to different teams and work environments.
• Meticulous attention to detail and ability to follow written instructions.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Self‑motivated, enthusiastic, and ready to learn quickly.
• Well‑organised and capable of multitasking.
• Experience in repetitive, high‑throughput work.
• Experience working in a team in a high‑throughput environment.
• A passion for science.
• Fluency in English (written and spoken).
