Job Description & How to Apply Below

This isn't a traditional sales role. It's about building relationships, understanding communities, and helping connect people to the benefits of reliable, ultra-fast broadband.

As a Community Engagement Officer, you'll spend your time across communities throughout Argyll and Lochaber, attending local events, meeting residents, businesses and community groups, and building trusted relationships. You'll act as the local face of HBNL, helping communities understand how improved connectivity can benefit their homes, businesses and daily lives.

We've already invested significant time in understanding these communities, identifying key stakeholders, and building the foundations for success. Now we're looking for someone who can bring those plans to life through genuine engagement, meaningful conversations and a strong local presence.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll be out and about across Argyll and Lochaber, becoming a familiar face within the communities we serve. Whether you're attending local events, meeting with business owners, speaking with community groups or catching up with residents, you'll be building trust, raising awareness of HBNL and creating opportunities to connect more homes and businesses to our network.

This is a highly visible, field-based role where success comes from being present, understanding local priorities and building genuine relationships. You'll act as the link between HBNL and the communities we serve, helping ensure our investment delivers real value for local people while supporting the growth of the business.

We're Looking For Someone Who:

Knows the Local Area

You have a strong understanding of the West Highlands and appreciate the unique character of rural communities. You understand the importance of local relationships and community networks and can quickly establish credibility with a wide range of people.

Is a Natural Relationship Builder

You're approachable, confident and an excellent communicator. More importantly, you're a great listener who enjoys meeting new people and building genuine, long-lasting relationships.

Can Work Independently

You'll be supported by an experienced team and a clear strategy, but you'll also be comfortable planning your own activities, managing your time effectively and using your initiative to achieve results.

Has Experience in Customer-Facing or Commercial Roles

Experience in sales, community engagement, business development, customer relations or a similar people-focused role would be advantageous. You'll understand how strong relationships can lead to positive outcomes for both customers and the business.

Understands the Bigger Picture

You're motivated by making a difference and recognise how improved connectivity can transform lives, support local businesses and strengthen communities.

Enjoys Being Out and About

This is a field-based role requiring regular travel throughout the West Highlands. A full UK driving licence is essential. A company vehicle and fuel card will be provided to support you in the role.

If you'd rather be out meeting people than sat behind a desk, enjoy building genuine relationships and want a role with real variety and autonomy, this could be the opportunity for you.

Join HBNL and help us grow our presence across the West Highlands.
