SEND Mentor - Temp to Perm Opportunity
£100 - £110 per day with the option to transfer permanently!
A specialist SEND provision is seeking a compassionate, resilient and dedicated SEND Mentor to join its team. This setting supports children and young people who have experienced a wide range of challenges, including trauma, disrupted education, or difficulties thriving within mainstream environments.
The students here need far more than academic support - they need empathy, patience, stability and genuine relationship-building. Many have not had the consistent upbringing, support network or life opportunities that others may take for granted. The school is looking for someone who can offer understanding, connection and encouragement every single day.
Who They Are Looking For
This role would suit someone who:
- Has experience in care, mental health, youth work, social care, or SEN environments
- Has personal or professional experience with trauma, adversity or challenging behaviour
- Is able to build trusting, meaningful relationships with young people who may initially resist support
- Can offer warmth, consistency and emotional safety
- Is resilient, calm and confident when faced with complex or sensitive situations
- Can commit to working five days per week on a long-term basis, with the view to becoming permanent for the right candidate
The Role
As a SEND Mentor, the successful candidate will:
- Provide 1:1 and small-group mentoring
- Support emotional regulation and wellbeing
- Help students re-engage with learning in a safe and structured way
- Act as a positive role model and advocate
- Work closely with teaching staff, therapists and pastoral leads
- Contribute to a safe, nurturing environment where every young person feels valued
Why This Role Matters
For many of these students, school is the safest and most consistent part of their lives. The right SEND Mentor can be the difference between a young person disengaging and a young person believing in themselves again.
If someone has a background in care, mental health or supporting vulnerable individuals - or has lived experience of similar challenges - this school wants to hear from you, as do we!
