Position: Outreach Support Wokrer

Do you want work in a role where you will help putan end to rough sleeping in Reading?

Working hours: fulltime / 37.5 per week

Our belief is that rough sleeping is a harmful and dangerous activity both for the individual and for the wider community. Therefore, we take a proactive and assertive approach to supporting people away from this activity. Our aim is to support people to recover from the effects of rough sleeping and move away from a street lifestyle permanently. We are now looking for someone to join the team as an Outreach Worker.

  • Working as an Outreach Worker you will work with people to assess their needs and deliver a person-centred support, as well as working in partnership with multi-disciplinary teams and agencies across the city to meet client's individual needs.
  • It's not always an easy job, but the exciting opportunity to work with different people every day, helping individuals experiencing homelessness and the local community end the harms of rough sleeping is highly rewarding.

About you

We're always looking for people who share our ambition to end rough sleeping for good. If you're motivated, compassionate, and ready to get out there, we'll give you the training, tools, and support to make a real difference.

We'd love to hear from you if you bring:

  • Resilience and patience to work with people who may have complex needs or challenging behaviour.
  • Strong communication and listening skills.
  • The ability to build trust and develop effective relationships with a wide range of people and services.
  • Adaptability and problem-solving skills, enabling you to respond to individual needs.
  • An understanding of homelessness, including the barriers people face when accessing support.
  • A full UK (or equivalent) driving licence and additional language skills are an advantage, but not essential.
