iOS Engineer (Autoscoring / Connected Sports Tech)
Location: Hybrid (1 day onsite/ week in Reading)
Type: Full-time
We’re working with a well-established consumer sports business that’s entering an exciting new phase of digital transformation, backed by private equity and investing heavily in connected products. They’re building a next-generation autoscoring platform that combines computer vision, mobile apps, and cloud services to enable online play, rich performance statistics, and social features. This is a chance to join early in the product lifecycle and help shape both the technology and the user experience.
The Role
You’ll be a key member of a cross-functional product team, owning the iOS application while collaborating closely with product, design, backend, and hardware engineers.
The product is still early-stage, so this role suits someone who enjoys shipping, learning from users, and iterating quickly rather than working on a fully mature platform.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Design, build, and maintain a high-quality iOS application using Swift and SwiftUI
- Collaborate with backend engineers (APIs, data models, integrations)
- Contribute to web-based functionality to ensure feature parity across platforms
- Write automated tests and support a robust release process
- Help shape technical decisions and best practices
- Keep the end user front and centre, delivering a polished and intuitive experience
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years’ experience building and shipping commercial iOS applications
- Strong Swift and Swift
UI expertise - Experience working with REST APIs
- Comfortable working across platforms to ensure consistent functionality and UX
- Experience with automated testing
- Confident using Git and working in an Agile environment
- Strong understanding of iOS devices, form factors, and performance considerations
Nice to Have
- Experience contributing to both mobile and web products
- Exposure to connected devices or hardware integrations
- Background in sports, gaming, or consumer products
- Accessibility experience
- Computer Science or related degree
