EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOWThe primary objective of this role is to safely operate vacuum tankers for the collection and transport of sewage sludge between Severn Trent Services (STS) sites. The operator must comply with road transport legislation and STS policies and procedures, and actively participate in various meetings, including Comm Cells and Team Meetings.
- Safely operate STS vacuum tankers, collecting and transporting sewage sludge or other non‑hazardous wastes between STS sites in compliance with procedures and legislation.
- Perform and record daily and weekly vehicle checks, reporting any defects and ensuring vehicles are clean and roadworthy.
- Liaise with departments such as Transport, Operations, and Maintenance, maintaining regular communication with the Line Manager and other relevant parties.
- Attend and contribute positively to meetings, utilize STW IT systems, and always demonstrate safe and professional behaviours.
- Operate tankers professionally to project a positive image of STS to the public.
This is a 40‑hour a week role with typical hours worked around 8–4 Mon‑Fri.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TOTHE ROLE
To be successful, you must hold a minimum of a class 2 licence (additional training will be provided) and be able to operate vacuum tankers and associated equipment. You should be able to safely access vehicle cabs, sites, and offices using correct procedures, such as 3‑point contact, and manipulate flexible pipework (up to 5‑inch diameter) safely using correct manual handling techniques.
Additionally, you must be able to work unsupervised in all weather conditions, utilising correct PPE and lone worker systems. The ability to dynamically risk‑assess site access and working conditions upon arrival is essential.
The role holder will need to be able to secure and retain full MoD (SC) security clearance. (We’ll support you with this.)
