The Role
As Assistant Depot Manager, you will support the Depot Manager with daily depot operations, supervising warehouse staff and helping to optimise logistics, transportation and supply chain processes. The role will suit someone with previous supervisory experience within a warehouse or logistics environment who is confident working in a fast-paced operational setting.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the Depot Manager with daily warehouse operations, including shipping, receiving and inventory management
Supervise warehouse staff, ensuring safety procedures are followed and productivity targets are met
Coordinate transportation management systems (TMS) to optimise delivery schedules and freight movements
Support process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce costs and improve service levels
Use warehouse management systems (WMS) and ERP systems to maintain inventory accuracy and streamline workflows
Oversee forklift operations, ensuring appropriate training, certification and safe handling of materials
Monitor profit and loss statements to support financial accountability and identify cost-saving opportunities
Requirements
Essential
Proven supervisory experience within a logistics or warehouse environment
Strong knowledge of supply chain processes, logistics management and warehouse operations
Hands-on experience with TMS, WMS and ERP systems
Experience using AS400 platforms
Experience with shipping and receiving procedures
Excellent organisational skills with a strong focus on safety and operational accuracy
Demonstrated ability to support and implement process improvements
Desirable
Forklift certification
Experience working with 3PL providers
Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies
