Position: Camp Unit Leader (Camp Supervisor)  - Red Bank

Camp Unit Leader (Camp Supervisor) – Red Bank

Join YMCA of the Jersey Shore as a Camp Unit Leader (Camp Supervisor) in Red Bank. This temporary, mid‑senior level position pays $17.00–$18.50 per hour.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct supervision to a group of camp staff and ensure they follow the schedule and YMCA core values.
  • Assist in mandatory staff trainings, camp meetings, orientation, family nights, and carnival.
  • Arrive at the scheduled time, dressed appropriately; bring lunch, water bottle, and sunscreen.
  • Monitor and coordinate with counselors to maintain a developmentally appropriate schedule.
  • Ensure all campers are greeted, properly dressed, healthy, and injury‑free.
  • Communicate with parents and supervisors about behavioral concerns.
  • Maintain accurate records (attendance, time cards, incident reports, inventory, phone calls).
  • Enforce program standards including safety and cleanliness; report issues to supervisor.
  • Follow YMCA policies on child abuse prevention, discipline, first aid, and medical emergencies.
  • Support coworkers, assist specialists, supervise activity areas, and provide feedback.
  • Schedule staff breaks; address camper behavior; coordinate with leadership and parents.
  • Adhere to youth‑boundary policies and complete required abuse‑risk training.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Oversee Camp Counselors, Junior Counselors, and Role Models in Training.
Requirements
  • Minimum age 21.
  • Experience working with children and supervising others, preferably in a camp setting.
  • Enjoy working outdoors and be physically able to do so.
  • CPR, First Aid, Epi‑pen, and AED certification prior to camp start.
