The Accident & Health Reinsurance Claims Specialist is a key contributor to the reinsurance team king in a global, customer‑focused, professional claims organization, you will support the department goals of providing best‑in‑class internal and external client servicing through efficient and effective reinsurance claims handling and excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Proactively manage a diverse and interesting portfolio of Accident & Health reinsurance claims.
  • Manage claims from notification through closure, investing the necessary level of involvement for each claim.
  • Analyze and determine eligibility of claims; verify claims are correctly ceded and that proper policy provisions and limits are applied.
  • Establish and monitor appropriate reserves.
  • Resolve claims questions directly with cedents or brokers professionally.
  • Engage with cedents, brokers and third‑party vendors to identify opportunities for claim mitigation using cost‑containment services.
  • Collaborate with team members, including technical accounting, to ensure accurate and timely claim payments within your authority level.
  • Conduct claim audits for existing accounts/clients. Travel may be required.
  • Collaborate with AXIS Re vice‑ers by sharing pertinent loss‐development information with underwriters and actuaries.
  • Build strategic relationships in the industry to support informed and best‑in‑class reinsurance claim handling.
  • Identify developing trends and anomalies in your book of claims and recommend appropriate strategies, including procedural changes or client/peer education.
  • Participate in professional associations, development activities and industry conferences for expertise and networking.
  • Suggest process improvements for review and approval by senior management.
About You

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in insurance or reinsurance.
  • 5+ years experience with Employer Stop Loss, Fully Insured, and Managed Care claims adjudication.
  • Firm understanding of insurance and reinsurance terminology, coverage, and treaty types.
  • Ability to evaluate proper reserving under a reinsurance program.
  • Proficiency with common reinsurance contract terms and conditions, including limits, aggregates, and deductibles.
  • Strong communication skills with brokers and cedents.
  • Strong Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High standard of professional conduct.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to liaise across operational and technical disciplines.
  • Ability to read and interpret medical reports. Clinical experience is a plus.
Role Factors
  • Travel to cedents and broker meetings in North America 2–10 times a year.
  • Be in the office at least three days per week.
Compensation and Benefits

Base salary range: $120,000 – $150,000 USD, commensurate with experience and location. Competitive target incentive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package are included.
