Community Services Officer

Performs a wide variety of non-sworn field and office law enforcement and animal control tasks, including animal control, parking, traffic and crowd control, evidence collection, processing, and maintenance fingerprinting, registration of criminal offenders, abandoned vehicle identification and abatement, report taking, collision investigation, general office work and crime prevention activities. This position is distinguished by its responsibility completing essential non-sworn police tasks.

This position works under the direct supervision of the Sergeant on duty and the indirect supervision of the Division Commander assigned.

• Evidence/Property Room:
• Serve as court and District Attorney liaison: < ul >
• Assemble reports; submit information to other departments as required Serve as a liaison between the Department and the public; coordinate and publicize a variety of programs including crime prevention, neighborhood watch, child safety programs and other public safety-related programs.
• Take and document non‑injury traffic accidents;
• Take and document minor crime and non‑criminal incident reports where interviewing only non‑suspect victims and witnesses is required;
• Maintain video and photo‑related equipment, videotape, film and other accessories.
