Role OverviewWe are recruiting a contract Accounts Payable Specialist in our Toronto office to support the Accounting Department. The position reports to the Accounts Payable Supervisor and focuses on overseeing and supporting accounts payable processes, including coding and reviewing vouchers and invoices, account reconciliations, expense tracking, and posting entries using Excel.
Responsibilities- Review and approve invoices entered by users for data accuracy in Chrome River.
- Review and approve expense reports and corporate visa charges submitted by firm members in Chrome River.
- Clean up CSV (and other formats) account transactions before uploading to the ERP system.
- Maintain Excel templates for high‑volume transaction uploads.
- Respond to internal and external inquiries, perform statement reconciliation, and resolve outstanding vendor balances.
- Collaborate with firm members and lawyers to ensure disbursements/expenses are processed in a timely manner.
- Ensure adherence to firm policies and business rules.
- Support and participate in financial system implementations and related projects.
- Recommend process improvements to increase efficiencies and reduce errors.
- Perform other A/P duties as assigned by the supervisor or senior management.
- Diploma or post‑secondary education in Accounting.
- 3 to 5+ years of accounts payable experience.
- Experience in law firms and familiarity with 3E and Chrome River preferred.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills and ability to quickly learn new software.
- Flexible and able to adjust to new tasks in a rapidly changing environment.
- Initiative and curiosity to learn.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain a high level of accuracy.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and professional judgment.
Employment Type:
Full‑time, 6‑month contract
Salary: $60,000 – $65,000 annually
