Our well-established manufacturing client in the Red Deer area is seeking an experienced Controller to join its leadership team. This key position is responsible for overseeing all accounting functions, human resources administration, and general office operations. Reporting directly to the General Manager and Corporate Chief Financial Officer, the successful candidate will play an integral role in supporting operational and financial success.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, and general ledger activities.
- Process semi-monthly payroll for salaried employees and oversee payroll administration for hourly staff.
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations, journal entries, variance analyses, inventory reporting, and financial statements.
- Develop and maintain cash flow forecasts, budgets, and financial analyses.
- Provide weekly and monthly management reporting and performance metrics.
- Present monthly financial results to senior management and corporate leadership.
- Lead the annual budgeting process and monitor performance against budget.
- Ensure accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls are followed.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and enhanced financial controls.
- Coordinate year-end financial statement reviews and tax return preparation with external accountants.
- Provide financial insights and support to operational management.
- Maintain employee records and administer company benefit programs.
- Manage HR systems and support human resources processes with assistance from corporate resources.
- Administer WCB premiums, claims management, and return-to-work programs.
- Oversee day-to-day office operations.
- Supervise and support local finance and administrative staff.
- Assist with administrative initiatives as required.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Commerce, Accounting, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Controller within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong accounting, financial analysis, budgeting, and reporting experience.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with manufacturing accounting systems and payroll administration.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and reconciliation skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proven leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with SAP Business One.
- CPA or other professional accounting designation.
