Alberta Health Services, Central Corridor, and the Department of Medicine at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, invites applications for a Rheumatologist to establish a full-time practice in the City of Red Deer. This position requires a scope of practice that includes adult Community Clinic Practice, Inpatient & Outpatient Services, Emergency Consults, and Specialist On-Call Coverage. On-call requirements will be mutually agreed upon by the Corridor Clinical Department Lead for the Department of Medicine.

Responsibilities

include but not limited to:
  • Reside in and have their primary residence within the community of Red Deer;
  • Obtain and maintain an AHS Medical Staff Appointment and appropriate privileges to provide the Services;
  • Abide by the AHS Medical Staff Bylaws, the AHS Medical Staff Rules and AHS policies;
  • Establish and maintain full time community based practice within the community;
  • Provide call assistance as per call schedules, including full time participation in the Rheumatology call schedule, as required;
  • Participate in quality improvement programs and initiatives undertaken within the Corridor Clinical Department of Medicine;
  • Participate in relevant Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs;
  • Contribute to and participate in other administrative responsibilities, as assigned;
  • Work collaboratively with peers and care team colleagues in support of patient care;

Once chosen, the successful candidate may choose to operate their business by joining an existing independent outpatient practice or form an independent outpatient office of their own. This is the candidate's independent business decision and will not be managed through the recruitment process.

  • Have or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (required with application);
  • Have or be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Certification (RCPSC);
  • Have specialty certification or equivalent in Rheumatology, or be currently enrolled in a Cardiology Residency Program;

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS);

  • Recent and relevant experience in all areas of practice required, as the Most Responsible Physician

    Compensation for this opportunity is based on a fee-for-service model and may include additional program stipends. The average gross income of an Internal Medicine Physician in Alberta is $ $300,000 to $800,000. Total compensation for fee-for-service billings vary by individual practitioner, and the compensation shown reflects the average range of wages for this specialty as reported by Alberta Health.
