Success Coach
Chinook’s Edge School Division is hiring a full‑time Success Coach to work in the community of Carstairs. The focus of work will be from Kindergarten to grade 9, across Carstairs Elementary School and Hugh Sutherland School. Candidates must be highly charismatic, playful, and able to connect with this age group, fostering an inclusive and caring atmosphere. Preference will be given to those with direct experience working with youth and who are comfortable facilitating classroom programming.
Start date is January 26, 2026

Hours: 40 hours a week (not aligned with the school calendar).
Job Description: The MHCB Success Coach provides mental health promotion and prevention to children, youth and families. Working as part of a team, the coordinator develops and delivers developmentally appropriate, evidence‑based social‑emotional learning and mental health programming that meets the objectives of the MHCB initiative. Delivery of programming involves classroom programming and small‑group work in schools and community settings, focusing on increasing knowledge, building skills and fostering abilities that enable students to better their own mental health and wellness.
This position requires formal education in a health or social science field (e.g., health promotion & prevention, social work, nursing, early childhood development, public health, psychology) and knowledge about addiction, mental health, FNMI and LGBTQ populations. Candidates must also be comfortable presenting programs to large groups and delivering engaging mental and physical health programs during lunch, after school and in the community.
Qualifications& Work Experience
- At least 2 years of working experience in addiction and mental health or health/human services related role (practicum experience considered).
- Familiar with the developmental, educational, emotional, social and recreational needs of children, youth and families.
- Ability to research and implement evidence‑based strategies to increase mental health and reduce stigma of mental illness in K‑12 schools.
- Experience delivering programming and comfortable facilitating classroom programs from Kindergarten to High School grade levels.
- Effective time‑management skills.
- Takes initiative and can work independently as well as in teams.
- Solid comprehension and practice of personal and professional boundaries.
- Ability to develop supportive relationships with young people.
- Creative problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
- Comfortable liaising with community members, school staff, community agencies and health‑care providers.
- Knowledge of the local community and resources available.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office programs and working knowledge of social media.
- All employees must provide a criminal record check.
- All professions must provide proof of licensure or registration with the approved Alberta regulatory college, prior to commencing duties where applicable.
- All employees must possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license and insurance required to transport students as needed.
