Enhance student support and promote accessibility at Red Deer Polytechnic as an Accessibility Coordinator. Drive inclusion and assist learners with disabilities in overcoming educational barriers.
As an Accessibility Coordinator, you will play an essential role in the retention and success of students at RDP who face various barriers. This position centers on advocacy, case management, and providing accommodations aligned with student needs. You will collaborate with staff, and assess resources to effectively support diverse learners transitioning to higher education.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct needs assessments and develop tailored action plans
• Review documentation and manage confidential student files
• Facilitate emergency planning and medical support requirements
• Support students applying for disability funding opportunities
• Liaise with various departments to improve campus accessibility
Requirements:
• Undergraduate degree in Education, Social Work, or related area
• 2-3 years experience in a similar role with students
• Strong problem-solving and ethical decision-making skills
• Understanding of diverse learning challenges and accommodations
• Capacity to maintain confidentiality and promote integrity
