Practical Nurse Instructors - Part Time

Red Deer Polytechnic’s School of Health & Wellness is hiring Part‑time Practical Nurse Instructors for the upcoming academic year. Students will be taught in classroom, lab, and clinical settings across the main campus and other locations.

• Teaching students in classroom, lab, and/or clinical settings with flexibility for both face‑to‑face and online course delivery.
• Creating a stimulating, effective, and learner‑centered environment, including preparing, reviewing, and updating course material.
• Marking, grading, and evaluating student work.
• Traveling to rural sites for labs and clinical instruction.
• Providing ongoing feedback, guidance, and assistance to students.
• Actively contributing to program planning, curriculum review, project work, and scholarly activity.
• Participating in School and Polytechnic‑wide initiatives and/or committees.
• Upholding the Professional Responsibilities of Faculty at RDP as described in the Faculty Performance Policy.
• Demonstrating and promoting RDP organizational values and following RDP policies and practices.

• Current registration as an LPN with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA) or a Registered Nurse with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
• Current Heart and Stroke Foundation Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider or recertification certificate, or willingness to obtain upon hire.
• Respiratory fit testing or willingness to obtain upon hire.
• Valid driver’s license.
• A satisfactory Criminal Record Check in accordance with the Polytechnic’s Criminal Record Check policy.
• LPN diploma with a health care related degree.
• LPN diploma with significant progress in a health care related degree.

Salary commensurate with education and experience.

• Receive an additional 14% of gross salary in lieu of benefits and vacation pay.
• Part‑time instructors are not eligible for comprehensive health and dental benefits packages.
• Eligible for individual professional development funding and additional free professional development opportunities offered through the institution.
