Red Deer Polytechnic’s School of Health & Wellness is hiring Part‑time Practical Nurse Instructors for the upcoming academic year. Students will be taught in classroom, lab, and clinical settings across the main campus and other locations.
Responsibilities- Teaching students in classroom, lab, and/or clinical settings with flexibility for both face‑to‑face and online course delivery.
- Creating a stimulating, effective, and learner‑centered environment, including preparing, reviewing, and updating course material.
- Marking, grading, and evaluating student work.
- Traveling to rural sites for labs and clinical instruction.
- Providing ongoing feedback, guidance, and assistance to students.
- Actively contributing to program planning, curriculum review, project work, and scholarly activity.
- Participating in School and Polytechnic‑wide initiatives and/or committees.
- Upholding the Professional Responsibilities of Faculty at RDP as described in the Faculty Performance Policy.
- Demonstrating and promoting RDP organizational values and following RDP policies and practices.
- Current registration as an LPN with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA) or a Registered Nurse with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
- Current Heart and Stroke Foundation Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider or recertification certificate, or willingness to obtain upon hire.
- Respiratory fit testing or willingness to obtain upon hire.
- Valid driver’s license.
- A satisfactory Criminal Record Check in accordance with the Polytechnic’s Criminal Record Check policy.
- LPN diploma with a health care related degree.
- LPN diploma with significant progress in a health care related degree.
Salary commensurate with education and experience.
- Receive an additional 14% of gross salary in lieu of benefits and vacation pay.
- Part‑time instructors are not eligible for comprehensive health and dental benefits packages.
- Eligible for individual professional development funding and additional free professional development opportunities offered through the institution.
