Assistant Principal of Iron Ridge Intermediate Campus

Iron Ridge Intermediate Campus is located in Blackfalds, Alberta. It has 16 teachers and 12 support staff and serves approximately 331 students in grades 4‑6. The campus offers a learning environment that uses innovative, collaborative educational practices.
The assistant principal selection committee seeks an innovative and visionary leader with a strong background as a classroom teacher and administrator in grade 4‑6 environments.
Ideal Candidate Requirements- Evidence of exemplary interpersonal and communication skills.
- Evidence of a commitment to building and promoting collaborative environments.
- Evidence of establishing structures and supports focused on concurrent academic and social/emotional interventions.
- Evidence of teaching and leadership experience with diverse students and aptitude for creating individualized learning plans and behavior supports.
- Evidence of experience working with First Nations, Métis & Inuit families and communities.
- Evidence of strong foundational knowledge about First Nations, Métis & Inuit for the benefit of all students.
- Evidence of a thorough understanding and application of current educational research.
- Successful candidates must demonstrate evidence of achieving a Master of Education degree within the first three years of their assistant principal position.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development and lifelong learning.
- Evidence of high expectations for student achievement, literacy assessment, and effective literacy programming and interventions.
- Evidence of proficiency in numeracy instruction, assessment and interventions.
- Evidence of a commitment to leading and supporting professional development and school improvement initiatives aligned with jurisdictional and provincial directions.
- Evidence of a thorough understanding of how technology can facilitate learning.
- Evidence of successful experience in educational leadership positions.
- Evidence of a desire to contribute to a dynamic administration or leadership team.
- Evidence of building a culture of teaching and learning.
The new assistant principal will also be expected to actively participate in the Wolf Creek Administrators’ Association and demonstrate a strong commitment toward the school district vision.
