Steamfitter/Pipefitter Instructor – Probationary Continuous

Red Deer Polytechnic’s School of Trades and Technology requires a Probationary Continuous Steamfitter / Pipefitter Instructor to begin on August 4, 2026. The instructor will teach the theory and shop components of the Alberta Steamfitter/Pipefitter Apprenticeship program, develop curriculum, support student success, and participate in program committees and recruitment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain, develop, and deliver instruction for the theory and shop components of the Alberta Steamfitter/Pipefitter Apprenticeship program.
  • Participate in school and program committees and contribute to curriculum development.
  • Promote the program and actively recruit students.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of journeyperson work experience with progressive leadership experience.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Effective time‑management and organizational skills.
  • Aptitude for mentoring and coaching, and comfort with public speaking.
  • Ability to convey course content to diverse students and learning styles.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching post‑secondary learners in in‑person and/or online formats.
  • Journeyperson certification in one or more related trades.
