The Opportunity

The successful candidate will serve as a faith‑filled instructional leader who inspires excellence in teaching and learning while fostering a welcoming and inclusive Catholic school culture. The Principal will build upon St. Teresa of Avila School’s strong tradition of student success and community engagement while leading the school into its next chapter of growth and innovation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide visible and authentic Catholic leadership that reflects the mission, vision, and values of Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools.
  • Foster a vibrant faith community through prayer, liturgical celebrations, sacramental preparation, and parish collaboration.
  • Lead school improvement efforts focused on student achievement, wellness, and belonging.
  • Support high‑quality instruction through classroom supervision, coaching, and professional learning.
  • Build strong and positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and community partners.
  • Promote a culture of inclusion, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Effectively manage school operations, staffing, budgeting, and resources.
  • Ensure a safe, caring, and welcoming environment where every child is known, valued, and supported.
Qualifications
  • Be a practicing Catholic committed to the teachings and traditions of the Catholic Church.
  • Hold or be eligible for Alberta Leadership Certification.
  • Hold a valid Alberta Teaching Certificate.
  • Demonstrate successful school leadership experience.
  • Possess a strong understanding of elementary education and student development.
  • Demonstrate excellence in instructional leadership and school improvement.
  • Exhibit exceptional communication, collaboration, and relationship‑building skills.
  • Be committed to inclusive education and supporting the diverse needs of all learners.
  • Lead with integrity, humility, faith, and a servant‑leadership mindset.
