Position: Planner – Junior (civil)

Responsibilities
  • Assist in developing maintenance and turnaround schedules for civil works (e.g., concrete, structural, excavation, grading).
  • Prepare detailed work packages , including scope breakdowns, task sequencing, and required resources.
  • Coordinate with engineering, construction, and operations teams to ensure alignment on scope, priorities, and execution timelines.
  • Support job walkdowns and site inspections to validate scope, identify constraints, and capture field requirements.
  • Estimate labour, equipment, and material requirements for civil activities.
  • Assist with scope change requests during execution and provide on-site planning support.
  • Assist in identifying critical path activities and potential risks to schedule performance.
  • Collaborate with other discipline planners (mechanical, piping, E&I) to ensure fully integrated project schedules.
  • Ensure all planning activities comply with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards .
  • Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reporting for planning activities.
Qualifications
  • Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management , or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in project planning, scheduling, or civil construction , preferably within oil & gas or petrochemical environments.
  • Required CSTS 2020
  • Basic knowledge of civil construction practices , including earthworks, concrete, and structural installations.
  • Exposure to turnarounds, shutdowns, or maintenance projects is an asset.
  • Familiarity with planning and scheduling tools such as SAP, Primavera P6 , or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of project planning principles (WBS, critical path, resource loading).
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications .
  • Pre-Access Drug and Alcohol testing
Working Conditions

  • Working both indoors and outdoors in hot and cold weather conditions
  • Must be clean shaven
  • Personal safety equipment will be required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots
Physical Requirements
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50lbs; occasionally lift items weighing more than 50 lbs. with assistance
  • Stand or walk for long periods of time
  • Use arms and hands to reach for, handle or manipulate objects
  • Climb up and down ladders, scaffolds and other objects
