Role Responsibilities

This position performs work essential to the efficient and effective operation and maintenance of large heating and/or cooling plant(s) and auxiliary equipment for the assigned facility, with services provided being critical to the health and comfort of facility users, clients, and visitors.

Equipment operated, maintained, and repaired by the Power Plant Engineer 4th Class may include:

Low pressure water tube boilers, Fire tube Boilers and Hot water Boilers.

Glycol Chiller and AC units.

Diesel engine operated emergency power generators.

Natural gas fired plant, heat exchangers and air handling units.

Water softeners Dealkalizer, water treatment area.

This position may be required to operate a building management control system, as well as automated card access and computerized maintenance management systems. Reporting to the Facilities Coordinator, the Power Plant Engineer 4th Class functions within applicable legislation, regulations, policies, guidelines, and standards.

The primary responsibilities for the Power Plant Engineer include, but are not limited to:

Heating and cooling plant components and other mechanical and auxiliary equipment within the assigned facility are operated and maintained in accordance with established policies, guidelines, and standards.

Routine maintenance of boilers and other mechanical and auxiliary equipment within the assigned facility.

Preventative maintenance is performed on mechanical and auxiliary equipment within the assigned facility.

Administrative and other services are provided in support of facility operations and maintenance.

Building Maintenance on multiple buildings on site.
