Police Communications Operator

Join the City of Red Deer as a Police Communications Operator, handling crucial calls and data management for the RCMP. This role demands strong communication skills and quick decision-making amidst urgent service requests.

In this role, you will be the essential first contact for the RCMP, managing both non-emergency communication and administrative tasks. With an emphasis on utilizing Police and Enforcement databases like CIIDS, CPIC, and PROS, your attention to detail and administrative accuracy will ensure compliance and safety. Your interactions will involve clear, concise communication with various stakeholders including Municipal Enforcement Officers and the public.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and maintain police databases and records

• Triage incoming service requests with high-level decision-making

• Communicate accurately using radio, both written and verbal

• Prepare and review reports while handling confidential information

• Support and mentor team members in operational duties

Requirements:

• Grade 12 and 3 years’ experience in police communications

• National RCMP Telecommunications Operator Course preferred

• Pass RCMP Security Clearance prior to employment

• Type 50 words per minute accurately

• Flexibility to work shifts, evenings, and weekends
