Police Communications Operator

Position: Red Deer Police Communications Operator Role
The City of Red Deer is seeking a Police Communications Operator.

Your role will focus on triaging calls and managing critical data for the RCMP and municipal enforcement.

As a central figure in this position, you will address incoming telephone calls, assess service requirements, and prioritize tasks related to law enforcement communication. Strong proficiency in utilizing police databases such as CIIDS, CPIC, and PROS is essential for your success. Clear communication skills are crucial, as you will relay vital information to both the public and officers, ensuring safety and effective service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain and audit police databases with precision

• Evaluate and prioritize service requests effectively

• Provide clear communication using Ten Codes and Phonetic Alphabet

• Prepare files and reports, ensuring data accuracy

• Assist in training team members on operational duties

Requirements:

• Minimum of Grade 12 education

• Experience in a direct Police communications environment preferred

• Ability to pass RCMP Security Clearance

• Typing speed of 50wpm with accuracy

• Willingness to work variable shifts, including weekends
