Red Deer County is looking for an experienced, community-focused Community Peace Officer Level 1 (CPO1) to join our professional and highly respected Protective Services team.

As part of our Protective Services team, you will enjoy a dynamic role where no two days are the same – combining education, enforcement, prevention, partnership-building, and responsive service to residents.

As a Peace Officer with Red Deer County, you will:

The ideal candidate is a confident and approachable enforcement professional who is committed to fair, respectful, and effective service delivery. You bring strong judgment, communication skills, and the ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment. Qualifications and assets include:

• A minimum of three (3) years of related law-enforcement experience; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Community Peace Officer Level 1 certification.
• Completion of the PARE or equivalent physical abilities testing.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven professionalism, integrity, initiative, and sound judgement.
• Excellent organizational, diplomatic, customer-service, and relationship-building skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• An acceptable Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check.
• A valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license with an acceptable driver’s abstract.

The following qualification are considered assets:

• Emergency Vehicle Operation (EVO) certification.
• Motor Transport Weights & Measures training.
• Experience in municipal government or municipal enforcement.

The starting salary will be determined based on the successful candidate’s directly related qualifications and experience, internal equity, and Red Deer County’s approved compensation policies. Red Deer County offers a comprehensive total rewards package, including pension and benefits, subject to eligibility and applicable plan provisions.
