Applied Research Technician IV (Data Analyst - Coop Student)

As a Data Analyst Coop student, you will work closely with experts at the Energy Innovation Centre (EIC) on projects that push the boundaries of renewable energy systems.
PositionResponsibilities
- Collect, clean, and analyze data from renewable energy and energy‑related projects.
- Develop data visualizations, dashboards, and reports to communicate findings.
- Assist with predictive modeling, simulations, and analytical tools to support project objectives.
- Use programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL for data analysis and automation.
- Support research activities through data collection, literature reviews, and technical documentation.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to identify trends, solve problems, and develop innovative solutions.
- Participate in project meetings, workshops, and knowledge‑sharing activities.
- Hands‑on experience working on real‑world projects alongside industry experts.

- Current enrollment in a Bachelor of Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Data Science, or related program.
- Demonstrated ability to work with large, complex datasets and extract actionable insights through statistical analysis and data visualization.
- Proficiency in Python and experience with data analysis libraries such as Pandas, Num Py, Scikit‑learn, Matplotlib, or similar tools.
- Strong understanding of data cleaning, validation, quality assurance, and analytical methodologies.
- Experience developing dashboards, automated reports, or analytical workflows using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent platforms.
- Ability to translate technical data into meaningful recommendations for researchers, engineers, industry partners, and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated problem‑solving skills through academic projects, research activities, competitions, co‑op placements, employment, or personal projects.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document methodologies and present findings.
- Interest in renewable energy, IoT, and emerging technologies.
- Experience applying machine learning, predictive analytics, optimization, or artificial intelligence techniques to real‑world problems.
- Experience working with time‑series, sensor, IoT, SCADA, energy, or industrial datasets.
- Familiarity with renewable energy systems, solar photovoltaic technologies, power systems, or energy management applications.
- Experience using Git, version control systems, and collaborative software development practices.
- Previous participation in research projects, applied research initiatives, hackathons, engineering competitions, or industry‑sponsored projects.
Salary: $29.51–$34.53 per hour. You will receive a 15% premium in lieu of vacation, statutory holidays, and benefits.
