Volunteer Care & Activities Helper: Porter, Bistro & Plants

Eden Gardens is seeking 2 dedicated and compassionate volunteer Resident Porter for the busy Happy Hour music performance each Friday. This position includes transporting residents to and from Happy Hour and serving beverages under the supervision of the activity aides. Bonus: you will get to enjoy a variety of different musicians!

Eden Gardens is seeking 2 dedicated and compassionate volunteer Activity Helpers; each Saturday there are a variety of activities. This position includes helping residents participate in activities, helping bring residents to and from activities, and assisting with set up and clean up.

Eden Gardens is seeking 2 dedicated and compassionate volunteers for the Bistro. This position includes serving coffee and treats, bringing residents to the bistro and having conversation or playing a game.

Eden Gardens is seeking dedicated and compassionate volunteers to support the care of the solarium plants at Eden Gardens. The solariums are calm, therapeutic spaces filled with greenery that enhance the beauty of the home and contribute to the well being of our elders, many of whom are living with dementia. Volunteers in this role will help ensure the solarium plants are consistently watered, maintained, and thriving for the enjoyment of the elders, their families and friends.

Knowledge of indoor plant care, including tropical plants. Should also have comfort and compassion when interacting with elders, including individuals with dementia, dementia specific training will be provided; however, a strong interest in engaging with elderly individuals is a must.

For these volunteer positions at Eden Gardens, reliability, punctuality and consistency in attendance are required; a minimum of 2 hours per week. A volunteer for these positions must have compassion for and be comfortable when interacting with elders, including individuals with dementia. Must also have patience, attentiveness and a kind respectful manner, the ability to work independently, and as part of a team, the physical ability to assist with pushing wheelchairs and have the willingness to ask for help and clarification when needed, and to follow established routines.
