About the Role
With a passion for care towards residents, families and team members, the Registered Nurse is accountable for practicing outstanding care and support to residents, resident families, team members and volunteers to the full scope of professional nursing practice, and to ensure that their conduct meets the standards of the profession and of Bethany Care Society to deliver resident centered care planning, implementation and evaluation.
Responsibilities- Resident‑Centered Care:
Promotes service excellence and is responsive to residents’ needs in accordance with care plans, policies, and procedures. Conducts comprehensive nursing assessments to establish priorities and collaborates with interdisciplinary team members. Utilizes data to identify resident/family needs and strengths, revising care plans to incorporate goals and expected outcomes. - Documentation:
Accurately records resident care assessments, interventions, and outcomes in alignment with Bethany policies and regulatory requirements, ensuring timely, accurate reporting of data collection, interpretation, planning, implementation, and evaluation. - Safety:
Contributes to a secure environment by adhering to safety guidelines, identifying and mitigating unsafe conditions, and reporting any unsafe conditions immediately. - Pro‑active Learner:
Demonstrates Bethany’s vision and mission, attends and actively participates in interdisciplinary team meetings and care conferences, shares knowledge, and advocates for resident choice. - Team Work:
Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to maintain a resident‑centered care culture, fostering constructive relationships among team members, residents, families, and visitors. - Leadership:
Leads, develops, and coaches staff, assumes the ‘In Charge’ role providing clinical nursing leadership, consultation, direct nursing care, and crisis intervention as needed.
- Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) degree from an accredited nursing school.
- Minimum 1 year experience in nursing (preferred 2 years). Gerontology nursing experience preferred.
- Active registration in good standing with CARNA.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
- Excellent observational, communication, and critical‑thinking skills.
- Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking).
- Current CPR certification;
Dementia Care Certificate and experience preferred. - Knowledge of RAI/MDS 2.0 tool and electronic documentation systems preferred.
