Instructor - NICU

Position Summary

Join a dynamic leadership team at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). As a Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE), you will lead the delivery of educational programs for clinical staff, ensuring excellence in patient and family‑centered care.

• Serve as an expert practitioner and key educator in support of nursing staff and the multi‑disciplinary clinical team.
• Plan, coordinate, implement and evaluate education for nursing staff, including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development.
• Collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational, and evidence‑informed practice.
• Provide safe, quality patient and family‑centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of Alberta Health Services.
• Lead the development and maintenance of provincial, zone, and site educational programs and practice support documents.
• Integrate best practice into clinical care and practice support documentation.
• Build relationships within multi‑disciplinary teams and with staff, operational leaders, and families.

• Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
• Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS‑HCP) certification.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification.
• Minimum 2 years nursing experience within the last 5 years in a Level II or Level III NICU.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Experience as a Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) or Nurse Clinician within the last 2 years.
• Experience as an NRP instructor with in‑service/program development, delivery and measurement of learning outcomes.
• Experience leading quality improvement and change management projects.
• Quality Improvement certification (AIW Yellow/Green Belt or equivalent).
• Change Management certification (PROSCI or equivalent).
• Leadership development courses within the last 2 years.
• Knowledge of adult learning principles.
