GCS General Contracting Services is seeking experienced Fiber Technicians to join our growing telecom construction company.

Candidates must have experience with underground fiber installation projects and be qualified to drive the support vehicles used in the areas we are working. Telecom work is in the Red Deer area and interior Alberta.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret plans or diagrams and perform to perform work effectively.
• Submit detailed daily logs to the Project Coordinator at the end of each shift.
• Participate in site safety including pre-job orientations, tailgate meetings, ensure all safety paperwork is accurate and complete;
• Ensure proper and efficient installation of fiber cables, adhering to safety standards and technical specifications.
• Work efficiently in a team-oriented environment and independently as needed
• Other related fiber cable pulling tasks as needed.

Requirements

• Must have 1+ years experience working on fiber / telecom installation projects;
• Read and interpret plans or diagrams and perform required work;
• Meticulous and high attention to detail;
• Safety conscious;
• Cable pulling an asset;
• Valid Class 5 license;
• Clean driver’s abstract (3 year);
• Must be able to work in varied and cold weather conditions;
• Physically fit with no physical limitations;
• Capable of lifting 50lbs;
• Strong work ethic;
• Ability to think and react to changing conditions quickly;
• Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
• Ability to work in a fast- paced environment with tight deadlines and repetitive tasks.

• CSTS 2020 (required)
• Ground Disturbance – Supervisor Level 2 (required)
• Standard First Aid is an asset
