Arabic Settlement Counsellor

Take a crucial role as an Arabic Settlement Counsellor with Catholic Social Services in Red Deer. Help newcomers navigate their initial resettlement journey and access essential services.

This contract position will focus on the Resettlement Assistant Program, assisting Government-Assisted Refugees in Red Deer. You will play a vital role in their arrival process and housing support while also advocating for clients with various institutions. Your expertise in the Arabic language will be essential for effective communication and providing cultural orientation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess client needs to develop tailored service plans

• Provide referrals for shelter, food, and health services

• Advocate for clients with employers and educational institutions

• Plan settlement activities and coordinate group programs

• Maintain documentation and collect client feedback

Requirements:

• Diploma or degree in Human Services or equivalent

• 2 years of experience with newcomers to Canada

• Fluency in Arabic and English is mandatory

• Valid class 5 driver's license and vehicle transportation

• Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Intervention Record Check
