Summary
A dock worker primarily loads, unloads, and stores cargo from ships and trucks, operating machinery like walk or ride behinds. Key responsibilities include inspecting goods for damage, ensuring proper labeling, maintaining the workplace, and coordinating logistics with other transport staff. This may be a physically demanding role requiring strength and stamina, and workers must adhere to strict safety protocols and may be required to obtain specific equipment operation licenses.
Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Ability to help customers dropping off or picking up freight at our dock by using a pallet jack
- Documenting overages, shortages and damages
- General cleaning of the Dock to include restrooms, break rooms and other shared common areas, dusting, trash removal, spot cleaning of walls and other surfaces, cleaning stair and rails, emptying recycle bins,
- Spot cleaning of floor areas
- Some lifting required
- Ability to follow Health & Safety and Company policies
- Loading/Unloading freight and splitting your time in the office with administrative duties
The environment is a spacious warehouse.
Team-OrientedWorkers collaborate with a team, including crane operators, truck drivers, and supervisors.
Indoors and OutdoorsDepending on the specific duties, work may occur in both covered and open-air areas of the warehouse.
