Role OverviewNew Chapter Tuition is seeking a dedicated and resilient Outreach Tutor to support children and young people across Redcar and Cleveland who are unable to access mainstream education. This role involves working 1:1 with learners with SEMH, ADHD, anxiety, and those at risk of exclusion, delivering personalised, trauma-informed tuition in community-based settings.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver 1:1 outreach tuition to learners with SEMH, ADHD, anxiety, and complex needs
- Provide tuition in homes, libraries, learning hubs, or alternative provision settings across Redcar and Cleveland
- Plan and adapt sessions to meet individual academic, emotional, and behavioural needs
- Use flexible and creative approaches to re-engage learners who are disengaged from education
- Build positive, professional relationships with learners and families
- Monitor progress and provide clear feedback to parents/carers, schools, and professionals
Essential:
- Experience working with vulnerable, disengaged, or excluded learners
- Experience supporting learners with SEMH, ADHD, and/or anxiety
- Knowledge of the UK curriculum (primary or secondary)
- Calm, patient, and empathetic approach
- Strong communication skills
- Confidence working independently in community-based or alternative settings
Desirable:
- Teaching qualification or recognised tutoring experience
- Experience in outreach tuition, SEND, or alternative provision
- Knowledge of the local area
