An exciting opportunity has arisen for an hourly paid English Lecturer to join our English team, reporting to our Curriculum Manager of English, Maths, Digital and Foundation Learning.
As an English Lecturer with Redcar and Cleveland College, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning across a range of English programmes, ensuring that lessons are engaging, inclusive, and tailored to meet the needs of all learners. You will plan and deliver effective lessons, assess learners’ progress through examinations and continuous assessment, and provide constructive feedback to support achievement and progression.
You will also contribute to the wider work of the department through participation in curriculum development, team meetings, and quality assurance activities.
The ideal candidate will be organised, adaptable, and enthusiastic, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You should have a strong knowledge of English language and literature, good IT skills, and the ability to engage and inspire learners from a range of backgrounds and abilities. You will demonstrate high levels of accuracy and attention to detail and show a commitment to continuous professional development.
Qualifications and experience required:
- A degree in English or a related subject.
- Certificate in Education/PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education).
- Additional qualifications or experience relevant to teaching English in Further Education.
- Experience of delivering English, including GCSE and/or Functional Skills, within a Further Education setting would be desirable.
- Maths GCSE Grade 4 / C or equivalent, or willingness to work towards.
