Balfour Beatty have been selected by bp (British Petroleum) to construct a first-of-a-kind fully integrated gas-fired power station with carbon capture and storage which is a key driving force behind plans to make Teesside the UK’s first decarbonised industrial cluster. Balfour Beatty is seeking a dynamic BIM Manager to contribute to the Net Zero Teesside (NZT) project based at our site in Redcar and Cleveland.
The role will take responsibility for implementing and maintaining BIM and information management processes, supporting project teams and coordinating delivery across internal teams, designers, supply chain partners and Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick’s offshore BIM modelling team. The successful candidate will have strong practical knowledge of BS EN ISO 19650, experience of managing project information through Autodesk Construction Cloud and familiarity with Autodesk Forma.
Experience with in MEP, building services or a related engineering environment would be highly desirable.
- Lead BIM and information management activities across allocated projects
- Support the implementation of BS EN ISO 19650 processes and project information standards
- Develop, maintain and implement BIM Execution Plans, information management procedures and supporting guidance
- Manage project Common Data Environments using Autodesk Construction Cloud
- Establish and maintain agreed workflows, permissions, naming conventions, status codes, revisions and approval processes
- Coordinate model production, federation, review and issue across internal teams, designers and subcontractors
- Liaise with supply chain partners, including Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick’s offshore BIM modelling team, to coordinate modelling activities, information exchanges and delivery requirements
- Provide clear briefs and instructions to modelling teams and monitor delivery against agreed scope, programme and quality requirements
- Monitor compliance with project information requirements, BIM standards and agreed ways of working
- Review models, drawings and information deliverables for quality, completeness and consistency
- Manage model coordination activities and support the identification, recording and resolution of design clashes
- Work with design managers, engineers, project managers and supply chain partners to improve information quality and resolve delivery issues
- Support the development and management of Master Information Delivery Plans and Task Information Delivery Plans
- Coordinate BIM requirements across MEP, building services and wider engineering disciplines
- Support project teams in the use of Autodesk Construction Cloud, Autodesk Forma and other relevant digital tools
- Provide practical BIM guidance, briefings and training to project team members
- Track BIM actions, risks, issues and decisions through to resolution
- Support information exchanges, project reviews and formal delivery gateways
- At least five years’ experience in a BIM, digital engineering or information management role
- Strong working knowledge of BS EN ISO 19650 and its practical application on live projects
- Experience of managing BIM delivery within a contractor, consultant or engineering environment
